Professional October 2021

Mitrefinch We, at Mitrefinch – an Advanced company, joined businesses across the UK in celebrating NPW, championing the successes and challenges tackled by pay professionals. From giving thanks to our own payroll teams with goody bags of sweets, to hosting contests for our own Flexipay software customers, we threw ourselves into the celebration of all things pay-related. The week also provided an important opportunity to explore the future of payroll, with our very own Julie Lock joining other influencers in the field to discuss the importance of innovation and leveraging technology for pay teams.

Moorepay National Payroll Week coincided with welcoming colleagues back into our offices. From balloon arches, to goodie bags, to chocolate brownies, we had a fun-filled week, connected face-to-face and celebrated our achievements. We ran our Payroll Heroes awards, recognising some amazing colleagues who’ve embodied our value of ‘Always Learning’ over the last twelve months. Eight colleagues were selected that deserve extra kudos for performing exceptionally well. These individuals were praised for continually upskilling, encouraging others to learn, improving processes and studying for CIPP qualifications. We also published a video where our colleagues shared what they’ve learnt during the pandemic. View the video at https://youtu.be/0rJP7r-7fvQ

Reward Strategy At Reward Strategy, we have been celebrating the hard work of our key workers during NPW by promoting the importance of the profession. We have been interviewing payrollers from around the UK to create the cover feature of the latest issue of our magazine, which explores how payroll can become a career to aspire to. We want others to know just how rewarding a career in pay is.

The Payroll Centre Keeping up to date with the latest changes, new legislation and the coronavirus job retention scheme (CJRS) has been an enormous challenge! As such, The Payroll Centre supported NPW to raise the profile and awareness of payroll in the UK and joined the CIPP in providing payroll professionals with a week of celebrations following a challenging twelve months. We celebrated NPW with all payrollers by promoting the CIPP NPW packs, attending CIPP's Future of Payroll roundtable and online NPW events to celebrate all the good things across the payroll industry. Hays Hays love to support NPW, as we know from our own experiences how important a payroll department is to an organisation. To celebrate everything payroll, Hays had a week full of activity to mark the occasion. The series of virtual activities included the launch of the payroll professional of the year 2021 award, where nominations were encouraged to highlight how payrollers have gone above and beyond. Paul Schofield, shared services centre director at Hays recorded a podcast where he discussed the changes he had implemented to the central payroll function over the past twelve months. For the second year running, there was a ‘wall of praise’ to give thanks to, and recognise the amazing work of payrollers.
