ur aim is to nurture every individual to help them achieve their potential and this is most clearly illustrated in our excellent Value Added academic results. A combination of dedicated teachers, a broad and challenging curriculum, strong work ethic and focus on core educational skills combine to provide a stimulating, inspiring and purposeful learning experience for our pupils. All of this is underpinned by High Performance Learning; an understanding that intelligence is not fixed and that high performance in education is achievable by all. We are proud to have been
one of the first schools globally to have been granted the status of a World Class High Performance Learning School. We offer a wide choice of subjects at GCSE and A Level and meticulous care is taken by staff in guiding pupils towards suitable subject choices. An understanding of service and gaining a perspective on the role that we play in our local and global community is a vital component of any well-rounded education and it is important that our pupils gain this outlook. Pupils are also able to enhance classroom learning with educational trips including visits to London’s galleries and theatres, Year 7 French trip to Calais, GCSE History Field Trip to the Somme, and many other local field trips. There are also wonderful opportunities to travel further afield and gain new experiences, for example, trips have recently been undertaken to South Africa, Iceland, CERN in Switzerland, United States and Italy.

Senior School Beyond
Since its foundation over 140 years ago, St Lawrence College has demonstrated that by focussing on the whole child and supporting an unashamedly holistic education, our pupils have the opportunity to fulfil their unique potential wherever this lies - as well as learn the vital qualities of team work, empathy, emotional intelligence, and understanding diversity and differences. We have a thriving alumni community of Old Lawrentians (OLs) who keep in touch with the school and each other. This global network offers a pool of expertise, friendship and support fromwhich current and former pupils can benefit at any time in their lives. Whether it is career guidance, work experience/internship opportunities, social and educational events, help will always be available to anybody who needs it.
as current pupils, it is not the end of their association with St Lawrence College – it is just the beginning. Pupils emerge on the other side as alumni (from the Latin ‘alere’ which means ‘the nurtured’ – a cornerstone of our educational philosophy) and benefit from a lifetime of support from the School family.

The boarding experience really is the best that the School can offer, with its exceptional pastoral care, academic support and access to extra-curricular activities.
Our boarding houses offer a whole host of opportunities for leadership, whether that is as simple as organising a sports team to play another House, or encouraging your peers to develop a society or interest group. Perhaps it will be taking ownership of one of the noticeboards, running the recycling scheme, ensuring that a new pupil is making friends, or even giving your friend who isn’t particularly good at organising himself, some time at the end of the day to help him pack his bag. The evenings in the boarding house are also full of opportunities for collaborative work. Not only are there members of staff on duty in the evening, helping out with their homework and ensuring the pupils’ welfare, but there are also a whole host of peers with whom to
collaborate. Furthermore, this also gives our pupils the soft skills of tolerance, understanding and develops their emotional intelligence. When living with a variety of other people, you become a more compassionate, selfless, and respectful individual. You understand diversity, learn to get on with everyone, become much more sensitive to the needs of those around you and of course you learn to become more independent. Boarding provides the holistic education that St Lawrence is renowned for, and it will prepare your children much better for both their time at University and also their future lives. Whilst primarily a full boarding school, we also offer weekly and flexi-boarding options for younger pupils.
ur Housemasters and Housemistresses know our pupils incredibly well – their
interests, their passions, the things they find difficult and are able to nurture and develop those individuals to be the best that they can in all areas of School life.

hungry pupils can prepare snacks between meals, after sports matches and at weekends. House Parents and their families live in accommodation within each Boarding House as well as a Resident Tutor. Members of staff are available at all times and the School also has an on-site Medical Centre run by qualified nursing staff, who provide cover throughout term-time for all pupils.
