Hygiene and disinfection in the dental sector can be categorised into four distinct areas; Instrument Care, Surface Care, Special Areas and Skin and Hand Care. Products within these areas are colour coded to help ensure ease of use with staff and the correct application is used in the correct environment.

Thorough and complete cleaning and disinfection of special area items is absolutely necessary. These include aspirator/suction equipment and dental impressions. Hands have been proven to be the number one transmitter of pathogens in everyday life. It is considered crucial that hands are disinfected regularly. With close contact between patients, dentists and nurses, cross-contamination is extremely high. To help combat this is regular and comprehensive hand disinfection must take place.
