Background and Contribution
Following a 25-year career in the UK armed forces, Robert relocated to Niagara-on-the-Lake, Ontario in 1987. As a decorated veteran, he still maintains close ties with many of his former UK veteran colleagues. Robert studied various applied real estate, construction and urban land subjects at Niagara College and McMaster University in Ontario. Then, in 1992, having moved to British Columbia, he completed his studies at the University of British Columbia and became an appraiser licensed by the Canadian Real Estate Association. In 1994 he was selected to become the project director of a leading multi- family development group based in Metro Vancouver. Under his direction, this group went on to attain prestigious international awards including the highest totals worldwide for both multi-family transactions completed and dollar volume sold. In 2005 Robert joined The WestStone Group as General Manager. He achieved success after success with WestStone ’ s developments and in 2007 he was appointed Vice President. Over the past 20 years, WestStone has completed many award-winning developments in Calgary, Sun Peaks Resort in the Okanagan, the Fraser Valley, Metro Vancouver and the Phoenix Metro Region in Arizona. Robert was one of the pioneering developers in the build-out of Surrey ’ s ever-evolving city centre.
Other Activities and Community Involvement
• 14 years as a Director of the Downtown Surrey Business Improvement Association, including 2 terms as President and Chairman. • 12 years as Chaiman of the Surrey City Centre Economic Development Committee. • 3 years as a Director and Vice Chair of the Surrey Urban Mission Society (SUMS). • 2 years as Chair of the Surrey Urban Mission Building Committee.
