Printing Industries of America will partnership with NPES The Association for Suppliers of Printing, Pub- lishing and Converting Technologies to coordinate the 2017 Educator Experience Event at PRINT 17. This one-half day event is coordinated by Printing In- dustries of America through funding made possible by NPES, owner of PRINT and GRAPH EXPO. It provides industry educators with an opportunity to learn about current trends, see the latest equipment and technolo- gy, and network with other instructional professionals. The proposed event sessions will cover new and up-and-coming technologies, a panel discussion, and practical how-to presentations. The information pre- sented is designed to show educators how they can incorporate these concepts, technologies, and ideas in their own classroom. This year’s event will feature presentations by industry speakers such as: • Hal Hinderliter, Principal at Hal Hinderliter Con- sulting Services; • Dr. John Leininger, Professor at Clemson University; • Steven Schnoll, Schnoll Media Consulting; and • A panel of printers who will discuss the skills and knowledge that companies are seeking in new employees. The program will be held on September 10, 2017 at McCormick Place in Chicago, Illinois, during PRINT 17. Atlantic Packaging To Open Solutions Center Atlantic Packaging is opening an 80,000-square-foot advanced research, testing and shipping certification facility in Charlotte, North Carolina. The packaging solutions center will include a multi- axis transportation simulator, developed by Atlantic in partnership with Lansmont and TEAM, for unit- load testing. The simulator will replicate real-world transit conditions. The Charlotte center will also have a packaging lab to test flexible materials as well as packaging lines to showcase equipment automation, including “innova- tive e-commerce automation,” according to Atlantic. Wes Carter, President of Atlantic, said in a statement that if a customer is experiencing damage in transit, the company will be able to re-create that specific route to see where and how products are failing. At- lantic can then create customized packaging solu- tions based on the data, Carter said. Atlantic Packaging has 16 locations in the United States. The Charlotte packaging solutions center will formally open next month.
