Harper Completes Annual Technical Meetings Harper Corporation of America, Charlotte, North Carolina, has completed the annual Technical Meet- ings at its corporate headquarters in Charlotte.These meetings are part of Harper’s strategic plan to sup- port its customers with dedicated technical service and support. Each Harper Technical Service Repre- sentative throughout North and South America was in attendance and trained in all aspects of anilox technology. Sean Teufler, Harper’s Technical Director, led the sessions and provided input on anilox specifications, new engraving technologies, banded roll trials, coat- ing applications, and the protection of anilox rolls through proper care and maintenance. According to Alan Rogers, Vice President of Sales, these meetings are Harper’s way of educating techni- cal personnel on the latest advancements in the in- dustry and keeping abreast of growing trends in flexographic printing. This team of technical repre- sentatives is known as the Harper GraphicSolutions Division and represents over 250 years of combined printing experience. A highlight of the meeting was the session on vol-

ume measurement. Josh Kiser, Product Manager for HarperScientific, provided an in-depth presentation on the different anilox volume measurement tools, and the challenges customers face when investing in scope technology.Tony Donato, Harper’s Product De- velopment Engineer, concluded the sessions with de- tailed information on anilox sleeves. FPA Announces Packaging Awards Call For Entries The Flexible Packaging Association (FPA) has an- nounced that the 2018 Flexible Packaging Achieve- ment Awards Call for Entries is now available. The deadline for entries is Friday, October 27. Awards are given in the following categories: ex- panding the use of flexible packaging, technical inno- vation, sustainability, printing and shelf impact, and packaging excellence.All entries are judged by an in- dependent panel of experts. The Flexible Packaging Association has conducted the annual Flexible Packaging Achievement Awards Competition since 1956 to showcase the industry’s innovation and the advances that have changed packaging.
