Hometown St.Thomas October 2026

Aiden Frederick I am running for Mayor because St. Thomas is at an important turning point. Our city is growing, and the decisions we make today will shape St. Thomas for decades. We need a clear direction for that growth, and I want to help lead us there. I grew up in St. Thomas and have chosen to build my life here. I studied Software Engineering at Western University, worked in technology, and now work in accounting, including experience with municipal audits. My education and career have taught me to solve problems, understand complex systems and pay close attention to how decisions affect the bottom line. This is a practical perspective that I want to bring to City Hall. My first priority is building better connections. St. Thomas should be a city where people can get where they need to go, and where our businesses and attractions are connected to the wider region. We should make better use of the infrastructure we already have, including the L&PS Railway. Reconnecting St. Thomas and Port Stanley by passenger rail could become more than a transportation project. It has the potential to be a tourism destination, an economic asset and something that gives people another reason to come to St. Thomas. We also need to manage growth responsibly. New homes and businesses are welcome, but growth cannot happen independently of infrastructure. We need neighbourhoods where roads, sidewalks, intersections and other services keep pace with development. We should be making decisions based on the St. Thomas that we want to build, not simply accommodating whatever comes next. Finally, City Hall needs to be accountable to the resident of St. Thomas. People deserve clear information about projects,

timelines and costs, and they deserve a council that follows through on its commitments. Good government is not just about making decisions. It is about being accountable for the results. I am running because I believe St. Thomas can be more ambitious about its future. We can grow without losing what makes this city work, we can invest in connections that strengthen our economy and community, and we can make City Hall more accountable to the people who pay for it. This election is a choice for you about what comes next. I am asking for your vote because I have a clear vision for the St. Thomas ahead: better connections, responsible growth, and a city government that delivers. Editor’s Note: To ensure each candidate’s message is presented in their own words, profiles are published as submitted, without editorial changes.
