Corey Janzen If you think using tax payer money for personal use is a serious violation of the public’s trust then you understand why I felt the need to run against Jeff Kohler and offer a viable alternative for St Thomas voters. Despite eventually admitting to it and giving the excuse he couldn’t tell the difference between his credit cards I feel strongly that the position of mayor, once mistreated this way, is not the place for allowing such a person back in. It’s critical voters know about the city credit card scandal in 2006 that saw him voted out. In other words I stand for ACCOUNTABILITY. I’ve lived in St Thomas my entire life except for a few years in university and have been a professional truck driver for nearly 20 years. My family has roots here and I care about St Thomas. I want to make information easily available to the public to empower voters and hold officials to their actions. I’m capable but not an insider or part of the social circles running the city. I’ll fight for you regardless if it brings me heat from any potential vested interests. I’ll work with law enforcement to make sure you feel safe, listen to those with experience working with our homeless and drug addicted, bring down costs to slow the rise of city fees and taxes so you can afford the things you need, and encourage employers to bring reliable jobs to St Thomas. I’ve been a bus rider and have loved ones living in low income housing. These aren’t just bragging opportunities or photo ops to me and I’ll show it through being honest and conducting myself ethically.
