IT MATTERS TO ME: INFORMING YOUTH SERVICES DELIVERY 47 they demonstrated benefits of implementing quiet spaces in youth program designs to encourage mental and spiritual health (Regalado & Smale, 2015; Spalding, 2003). OCS will present the recommendation to the SWRYISC through a PowerPoint presentation. Recommendation 2: OCS continue supporting the SWRYISC and other steering tables that promotes collaboration through exercising a shared vision amongst service providers . This recommendation stems from Conclusion 4, wherein the importance of having individuals with lived experience informing the design of a YISH was expressed. Findings 2, which was informed by focus group participants, encouraged the need for unity amongst agencies and a process that mitigates agency competitiveness. This finding urged community partners to work collaboratively (Guthrie & Guthrie, 1991) while mitigating agency competition (Gardner, 1992). This process could include assessing the ongoing relationship development of interagency service providers (Foundry BC, 2018). Creating an environment where one agency takes ownership of an integrated process can result in other agency YISH team members removing their involvement in the project and directing their interest and time back to their home agency (Gardner, 1992). This recommendation will be promoted through a PowerPoint presentation to the collaborative. Recommendation 3: OCS to inform community partners of the SWRYISC on the concept of a grandparent-in-resident program as an effective and efficient attribute to supporting youth . Incorporating a grandparent-in-resident program is a fresh idea that came out of the Findings 1, 3, and 4 and Conclusions 1 and 2 of this project. Bringing onboard grandparents or retired individuals who have experience in working with youth and an interest in supporting young people is a model that has demonstrated success in the United States (VanderVen, 2004).
