Experience and Knowledge Professional experience gained over a significant period of time, operating at a senior level in the private and/or public sector with a demonstrable track record of managing risk and operational security services X A demonstrable track record of developing and implementing practical solutions for strategic and operational change and an extensive knowledge of security risk management issues, services and systems both within the public and/or private sector, nationally and/or internationally X Dedicated technical knowledge of a large digital CCTV system and a proven track record of working in a large and busy control room environment X Managing budgets and understanding of financial management and systems X Managing a large in-house or contracted security workforce and a detailed knowledge of employment legislation and working practices X Experience of working in a customer focused environment X A good knowledge of health and safety at work legislation and the ability to apply that knowledge practically X Can demonstrate an understanding of diversity and equality issues X Has the experience and knowledge to take control of and defuse a developing situation X Knowledge of Data Protection issues as it refers to a security environment and how to apply this to ensure there are practices in place to avoid Data protection breaches X Skills and abilities Strong interpersonal skills are required. The post holder should have the ability to work as part of a team and to motivate and should possess a high level of negotiating, influencing and presentational skills due to the interaction required both within and external to SOAS X Can demonstrate the ability to assimilate information and communicate effectively both verbally and in writing X Maintaining public order on campus and ensuring that any organised protests or gatherings are managed effectively but sensitively X Able to work well under pressure, maintaining an efficient and professional manner X Use of own initiative X Good communication skills with the ability to communicate at all levels across a wide range of staff X Computer literate X Excellent customer service knowledge and standards X Qualifications Relevant management training in security related field X Holds a Security Industries Authority license in Security Guarding X Other Requirements Must wear correct uniform and PPE where provided X Holds a current first aid at work certificate X Physically fit to meet the requirements of the job X Ability to work as part of a team X Required to work Bank holidays and shifts X Will be required to carry out weekend shift work on a rota basis (approximately one week in every five) X
