ORACLE April 2020

ORPS CHAPEL

When Martin Luther was dealing with The Black Death plague, he wrote these wise words that can help inform the way we approach things happening in our world right now: I shall ask God mercifully to protect us. Then I shall fumigate, help purify the air, administer medicine and take it. I shall avoid places and persons where my presence is not needed in order not to become contaminated and thus perchance inflict and pollute others and so cause their death as a result of my negligence. If God should wish to take me, he will surely find me and I have done what he has expected of me and so I am not responsible for either my own death or the death of others. If my neighbor needs me however I shall not avoid place or person but will go freely as stated above. See this is such a God-fearing faith because it is neither brash nor foolhardy and does not tempt God. it’s time to join the ORPS Ukulele group. The new season begins Saturday, November 7 and beginners and skilled players are invited. The beginners’ workshops will be held every Saturday, 12PM-1PM in the West Room of ES. This is followed by group lessons and play for all levels at 1-3:30PM. This season’s group performed for five events: Christmas concert, pickleball Hawaiian party, phase party, 19th Hole, and Resorters’ Choir concert. This is a popular activity so the last time to join will be January 16, 2021. Anyone wanting information or to be added to the email list can contact: Marilyn Sabens at marilyn.sabens@gmail.com. Beginners can start practicing over the summer with free lessons on YouTube from Cynthia Lin. Lessons #1-6 are a great foundation. We look forward to welcoming new players. ALL ARE WELCOME

Thanks for another great year of Chapel. To all who attend it is exciting to gather and praise the Lord, be challenged by the Bible and from speakers and singers who are fabulous and make the Christian life come alive. To those who don't attend there is next season, and you are welcome to join us. We have outstanding speakers/musicians lined up. Worried about the coronavirus? Who isn't? Turn in your Bible to II Chronicles 20: 12 to the end of the chapter. King Jehoshaphat and his nation Judah were surrounded by three invading armies. He calls out to God what shall l do? The answer is somewhat astonishing. 1. Gather all the singers and have them go out ahead of the soldiers singing. Sounds strange, not too effective. 2. Have the people pray. Always effective 3. Tell people what God has done for you and enable them to place their faith in Me. Singing was giving praise by faith to God who enabled them to give praise in the middle of a crisis. Anticipate victory and claim it ahead of time. Praying is always effective and the only way to beseech God’s blessing in times of trouble. People asked how can you be so calm at a time like this? We trust God to give the victory to our nation. Follow these steps and read the Scripture passage. Have a great summer see you next season. Hebrews 11: 6
