She recalled that the event “was very active” when shemoved to the township 30 years ago and, when she heard that the original organizers had to step aside, she decided to carry on the strong local tradition of supporting Terry’s Dream. !is year she has a 20-member core group of volunteers helping her with the event logistics, including her “right arm”, Donna Lafrance, who will be at the Embrun village starting-and-"nish line for the Run to help answer questions for participants taking part in the event from that location. Saucier will be at the Russell village start/ "nish point doing the same on Fox RunDay. Participants can register for the Russell Township Terry Fox Run in advance by going to the Terry Fox Foundation website at www. terryfoxrun.org, or register on the day of the run at either the Russell location in behind

a promise to match the amount of pledge funds collected this year. Further details on the route for the Russell Township Terry Fox Run will be available at both locations. On-site registration at both starting locations begins at 9 a.m. Partici- pants can head out along the route at 9:30 a.m. after they have registered.

Cindy Saucier, chief organizer for the Russell Township Terry Fox Run, says there will be a special dedication of the run to the memory of the late Jean-Paul St-Pierre, former mayor of Russell Township, who died in o$ce in October 2014 even as he was cam- paigning for re-election for a second term. “He was always really supportive of the event,” Saucier said, regarding the late- mayor’s own dedication to Terry Fox’s dream of raising money to eliminate cancer. “He would come out and walk every year.” !is year marks the 35 th anniversary of the Terry Fox Run as a Canadian cultural and community event.!e Russell Township Fox Run has been a part of the local community since at least 1981 according to the oldest
