INTERHOUSE EVENTS Athletics Jacobs House was well represented both days with boys competing in Championship finals across the different age groups, which is a great achievement. U14 – James Floyd, William Gifford, Henry Hiatt, Lucas Minehan, Mark Reidie, Fletcher Tapper and Ashwin Thomas. Junior – Charles Beale, Josh Durant and Finn McCormack-Young. Intermediate – Jonathan Barnes, Harry Burt, George Cochrane, Angus Gifford, Ryder McGuigan and Oscar Wells- Swann. Senior – Isaac Aitken, Jordan Braithwaite, Gray Heath, Matthew Lewis, Anton Marshall, Hamish Patterson, George Ryan, Thomas Stephens, Jackson Thomas and Angus Thorne. Some boys were in one final and others were in several. It was great to see so many Jacobs singlets out on display. From these finalists, we had some boys who performed outstandingly well and earned a top-three placing. In U14,
William Gifford was 2nd in the 800m and 3rd in the 400m. Henry Hiatt was 1st in the 3000m and 2nd in the 1500m. In Intermediate, Jonathan Barnes was 3rd in the Triple Jump. In Senior, Thomas Stevens was 2nd in Javelin and Angus Thorne was 1st in the 100m, 2nd in the 800m, 1500m, 5000m and 3rd in the 100m Hurdles, 200m and 400m. Swimming sports Unfortunately, because of a change in alert levels, we could not hold the House relays, but we still had representation for Jacobs by boys competing and swimming well in the individual finals. We had a number of boys in the heats and, from that group, Mark Reidie, Josh Durant, Finn McCormack-Young, Andrew Bourner and Isaac Aitken made it through into finals. Mark Reidie was in four finals and was 2nd in the 50m Butterfly and was in the top seven for his other three events. Isaac Aitken swam in six, with all of them being top six placings, three of which were 4th place. Andrew Bourner placed 6th in the 100m Backstroke and Finn McCormack-Young had two top-10 finishes. Josh Durant took out the 50m Breaststroke for his age group. House music The Jacobs House full House song was – Escape (The Piña Colada Song) by Rupert Holmes. They sang well and sounded superb, being well supported by the backing band of Tom Stephens, Sam Willems, Josh Durant and Tim Tolerton. The Jacobs Small Group performed the song The Girl from Ipanema and did an amazing rendition. The boys were on point with all aspects of their performance and were rewarded with joint 1st place as the adjudicator could not separate their performance from Harper House’s
and 5th of 11 in the Family. Liam Jack, Sean Rutherford-
Bradford and Anton Marshall were involved in the Junior Crusaders Camp. From the camp, Liam Jack was selected to play against a Highlanders schools’ team, which they won 29–15. They performed the play Law & Order with a fairy-tale twist. It was entertaining, full of laughs and told a good story. Each boy involved, from those out front on stage to those who were backstage, did a fantastic job to bring it all together. Although
