Put forth thine hand now and touch his bone and his flesh and he will curse thee to thy face.” (Job 2:4, 5.) B HE foundation stone of re ligious cults that put healing of the body before regenera tion of soul, is found in this passage. The promise of bodily heal ing is an attractive bait. Some re ligious leaders have made themselves rich by it. Many people will sacrifice all that they have to the hope of gain ing health even to “ denying the Christ who bought them.” It is Satan who speaks in this passage and he knows whereof he speaks. “ All that a man hath will he give for his health”— even his very soul. Many are dazzled by the great claims of ¡Christian Science and the testimonies of persons who claim to have been heal ed through this system. Mrs. Eddy puts healing of the body as the first plank in her platform. She starts out by telling us that “ Our Master’s first article of faith propounded to his stud ents was healing. The ancient Chris tians were all healers.” She says again, “ Our Master said to every follower, ‘Go ye into all the world and preach the gospel to every creature . . . Heal the sick.’ ” And many people swallow this a s . though it were a correct, quotation of Scripture. But where is evidence that ail Chris tians were healers? And where is the passage where Jesus said to every fol lower, “ Preach the gospel to every crea ture . . . Heal the sick?” When Jesus instructed the twelve and sent them to the lost sheep of the house of Israel, He did empower them to heal
