Every day, at precisely 11am and 12pm, the city’s central square, Ma- rienplatz, comes to a temporary stand- still. The reason is the Glockenspiel, a massive mechanism located in the tower of the New Town Hall. Unlike ordinary astronomical clocks, this serious engineering endeavour da- tes back to 1908 and is composed of 43 bells and 32 life-sized copper figures. The show is divided into two acts: the upper level recreates the la- vish 1568 wedding of Duke Wilhelm V (culminating in a jousting tourna- ment that’s always won by the Bava- rian knight), while the lower level pre- sents the traditional “Coopers’ Dance”, 1. Svakog dana tačno u 11 i 12 časo - va centralni gradski trg Marijenplac privremeno se zaustavlja. Razlog je Glokenspil, masivni mehanizam na tornju Nove gradske kuće. Za ra - zliku od običnih astronomskih sa - tova, ovo je ozbiljan inženjerski po - duhvat iz 1908. godine, sastavljen od 43 zvona i 32 bakarne figure u prirodnoj veličini. Predstava je po - deljena u dva čina: gornji nivo re - konstruiše raskošno venčanje voj - vode Vilhelma V iz 1568. godine (završava se viteškim turnirom u kom bavarski vitez uvek pobeđu - je), dok donji nivo prikazuje tradi - cionalni Ples bačvara, proslavu za - natlija koji su plesali ulicama kako bi ohrabrili građane nakon epide - mije kuge 1517. godine.
