SURFOVANJE NA AJSBAHU SURFING ON THE EISBACH Ovo je verovatno jedino mesto na pla - neti gde ćete usred kopna videti ljude u strogim poslovnim odelima kako na biciklima nose daske za surfo - vanje. Na samom ulazu u Englesku baštu, na rečici Ajsbah, nalazi se – talas. Nastao je slučajno sedamde - setih godina prošlog veka, kada su lokalci u reku ubacili betonske blo - kove kako bi usporili maticu. Voda je ledena, talas je nepredvidiv, a sur - fovanje je dozvoljeno isključivo pro - fesionalcima. Scena funkcioniše po strogom uličnom bontonu – surfuje se jedan po jedan, a publika sa mo - sta, zajedno sa ostalim surferima, udaranjem dasaka pozdravlja dobar potez. To je onaj sirovi, autentični kul faktor koji u sekundi razbija mit o ozbiljnoj Nemačkoj.
This is probably the only place on the planet where you will see people dressed in formal business suits and carrying surfboards on bicycles in a landlocked city. Located at the very entrance to the English Garden, on the Eisbach canal, is a standing wave. It was created by accident in the 1970s, when local authorities placed concre- te blocks in the canal to slow the cu- rrent. The water is freezing and the
wave is unpredictable, and only profe- ssionals are allowed to surf. The sce- ne unfolds according to strict street etiquette - surfers take turns one at a time, while the audience watching from the bridge, together with other surfers, praise good moves by banging on their boards. This is an example of the raw, authentic “cool” factor that instantaneously shatters the myth of German seriousness.

VIKTUALIJENMARKT VIKTUALIENMARKT
Na samo nekoliko koraka od Marijenplaca nalazi se naj - poznatija pijaca u Evropi. Nastala početkom 19. veka po dekretu kralja Maksimilijana I Josifa, Viktualijenmar - kt odavno nije mesto gde se kupuju jeftine namirnice; to je vrhunski gastronomski epicentar na otvorenom. Na preko 140 štandova prodaju se retki planinski sire - vi, sveži tartufi, pa čak i preko 50 različitih, egzotičnih sorti krompira na kultnom štandu Kaspar Plauc. U sa - mom centru nalazi se veliki pivski vrt. Tradicija nalaže da ovde možete doneti i jesti svoju hranu (bilo da ste je kupili na pijaci ili doneli od kuće), pod uslovom da piće kupite u samom vrtu. Just a short walk away from Marienplatz is Europe’s most famous farmers’ market. Created at the beginning of the 19 th century by a decree of King Maximilian I Jo- seph, the Viktualienmarkt has long ceased to be a place to buy cheap groceries, representing the ultimate epi- centre of outdoor gastronomy. Its more than 140 stalls sell rare mountain cheeses, fresh truffles and more than 50 different, exotic potato varieties at the iconic Caspar Plautz stall. At the very centre of the market is a large beer garden. Tradition dictates that you can bring and eat your own food here (whether you bought it at the market or brought it from home), provided you buy a drink in the garden itself.
