Filmski set i bekstvo Fredija Merkjurija Smešten u kvartu Glokenbah, hotel i restoran „Nemački hrast“ je epicentar minhenske pop kulture. Sedamdesetih go- dina, legendarni nemački reditelj Rajner Verner Fasbinder use- lio se u ovaj lokal. On tu nije samo pio pivo; restoran je pretvo- rio u svoju nezvaničnu kancelariju, prostor za kastinge, pa čak i de fakto filmski set za svoju avangardnu trupu. Osamdesetih godina, bežeći od pritiska i britanskih tablo- ida, u Minhen stiže Fredi Merkjuri. Dok je sa bendom „Queen“ snimao u obližnjem „Musicland“ studiju, „Dojče Ajhe“ mu je postalo glavno utočište. Tu je bio samo još jedan gost koji je na miru mogao da naruči pečenu svinjetinu sa knedlama, za- štićen od bliceva paparaca.

Film Set and Freddie Mercury‘s hangout Located in the Glockenbach district, German oak Hotel and Restaurant represents the epicentre of Munich’s pop cul- ture. In the 1970s, legendary German filmmaker Rainer Wer- ner Fassbinder moved into this establishment. And he wasn’t just drinking beer there, but rather turned the restaurant in- to his unofficial office, casting centre and even a de facto film set for his avant-garde troupe. Freddie Mercury arrived in Munich in the 1980s, in an ef- fort to escape the pressure and the British tabloids. While re- cording with Queen at the nearby Musicland Studio, Deutsche Eiche became his main refuge. There he was just another guest who could order roast pork with dumplings in peace, protect- ed from the flashes of paparazzi.
