Professor

Appointment to the rank of Professor carries with it national recognition for a distinguished career exemplifying scholarship, excellent and productivity in research, successful teaching and outstanding service (including clinical service when applicable). It is expected that all criteria listed for appointment to the Associate Professor must be fulfilled to highest level. Faculty candidates in this track have typically published 40-50 peer-reviewed original papers. Participation as a principal investigator and/or co- investigator in major research grants is also expected. In addition, she/he is expected to take leadership roles within the department and college and should serve as a national resource in his/her discipline or area of expertise.

In order to be promoted to the Professor rank, completion and acceptance of a Triological Society thesis is strongly encouraged.

Clinical Service Track

Research Track Educator Track

Clinical Service Track

The Clinical Service Track is designed for physician/clinicians/Ph.D.s who primarily are devoted to patient care, clinical program building, safety and quality development and/or hospital administration. Faculty in this track are not eligible for tenure. Teaching is required in this track. Generally candidates are board eligible or certified. It is expected that faculty on the clinical track will spend between 70% to 85% on clinical care activities and related clinical instruction and 15% to 30% on formal didactic presentations, administrative commitments and other service related activities.

Instructor

Instructors are generally individuals who have recently completed training programs and are just beginning their independent professional careers. The primary workload encompasses development of clinical skills and an instruction to teaching in the form of ward rounds, clinic supervision, rounds and study groups.
