LIBRARY SAFETY EXHIBITION

On Monday, Isla Gould in 2PB was invited to the opening of the family-friendly, Royal Society for the Prevention of Accidents ( RoSPA) centenary exhibition at the Library of Birmingham. Here is her report: “I walked to the library with my Daddy. We went inside and saw Tufty the road safety squirrel. He keeps children safe. I had a photo with the man who was in charge. I did a 'hunt the hazard' puzzle and put the bits in. I looked at the old Tufty badges and posters but the best bit was that I had orange juice and a biscuit.” The exhibition features RoSPA's highlights from the last 100 years, beginning with their World War 1 road safety campaign, includes vintage posters from the 1940s-1970s, as well as details of its current activities, such as the Keeping Kids Safe campaign . It runs until 13th July. Thanks to Isla’s Mum & Isla for the story. Following our Refugee Week event - JAMATHON - last year, this year we celebrate with a SLAMATHON poetry and spoken word fundraiser on 25 June, 2-7pm at Thimblemill Library (now the UK's first Library of Sanctuary, awarded by the City of Sanctuary movement). We have collated a whole host of resources for Refugee Week and beyond that, are available for you to download and use in school. Just visit bearwoodaction.wordpress.com to access them for free.
