KEEP ON RUNNING (AND SWIMMING AND CYCLING!) Congratulations to Neve Hughes 3V and Abigail Pipe 6M, who completed their first triathlon at the weekend. Both girls did an amazing job of swimming, cycling and running in Sutton Park to get themselves a triathlon medal. For more information visit https:// www.uktriathlon.co.uk/ Thanks to Abigail’s Mum for the story. GROOVY GREEKS Year 3 held a Greek day, which consisted of making a full course Greek menu; an exhibition of their art work and entertainment. The children spent the day prepping vegetables for the moussaka, measuring out ingredients; making pitta breads; cutting salad for the starter and fruits for their dessert. The children discussed the safety of using equipment and hygiene before cooking, and were encouraged to measure ingredients independently. Children thoroughly enjoyed cooking together and set up the tables ready for when parents arrived. The children dressed up in their Greek costumes ready to greet and meet all the parents. Once parents were seated by the children, they went on to perform three Greek songs they have been learning this term. After the performance, the children served the food they had made, during the day to the parents. This is what some of the children had to say about the day:“I liked making the pitta bread and singing the songs to our parents” – Elisse 3S “I enjoyed cracking the eggs and chopping the onions for the moussaka” – Robyn 3RP “My favourite part was putting in all the ingredients for the pitta bread” – Chloe 3S “My favourite part of the day was chopping the tomatoes for the moussaka and singing to the parents” – Elliot K 3RP “I liked the whole experience, especially watching my mum eat, to see if she liked it” – Amanda 3S “I liked rolling out the pitta breads” – Maira 3RP “I liked serving the food to my mum and she really enjoyed what I had made” – Marcus 3S. Overall, the children had a fun filled day.

Thanks to Mrs Bhatoe for the story.
