Le plan concerne la caserne de pompiers Roger Champagne, située au 1484, rue Landry, à Clarence Creek. Elle n’est pas construite pour répondre aux besoins actuels de la communauté en matière de services d’incendie. Le rapport au conseil a identifié la deu- xième caserne comme une propriété de choix pour la conversion en logements sociaux. Le rapport recommande au conseil d’autoriser une étude sur la façon dont la conversion de la caserne de pompiers affecterait les besoins en logements sociaux ainsi que la meilleure façon de le faire. Il recommande également qu’un groupe de travail sur le logement abordable soit créé par le département du développement communautaire et qu’il se concentre sur la création d’un programme d’incitation au logement abordable. Il y a un besoin de logements sociaux dans la municipalité de Clarence- Rockland et un plan impliquant la caserne de pompiers de Clarence Creek pourrait être la réponse. Au cours de sa réunion du comité plé- nier du 18 octobre, le conseil de Clarence- Rockland a reçu un rapport concernant une initiative de logement social proposée. Le rapport détaillait comment les municipalités peuvent aider à créer et à soutenir des initiatives de logement et recommandait au conseil d’approuver une étude de faisabilité pour un plan concernant la caserne de pom- piers n° 2 de Clarence Creek. L’étude devrait coûter environ 50 000 $. Le coût serait couvert par 25 000 $ mis de côté dans le budget d’immobilisations pour la caserne de pompiers et 25 000 $ provenant d’un surplus possible dans le budget 2021 du département des services
