Ottawa’s Phantoms of Yore will offer an informational workshop (history, paranormal finds, equipment and what to expect), followed by a 30-minute break. The streets of Vankleek Hill resembled a harness race track, as participants in the annual Vankleek Hill Horse and Buggy Parade stepped out on a sunny Sunday afternoon over the July 8 weekend. The Excellent Events tourism promotion group organized the event, which saw many gold and beautifully restored buggies provide residents and visitons with a glimpse of the rich heritage past of this Ontario village. At age 91, Roland Massie of Saint-Eugène was among the many riders to take part in the event. “It’s a passion for me that I don’t want to give up,” he said. “I bought my horse from one of the best horse drivers in the world, the Fillion’s.” Massie came to the Horse and Buggy Parade with Denis Laviolette, who also enjoys taking part in the parade, and also takes comfort in being around to help support his friend’s passion. “It gives me pleasure to accompany him with his mare,” Laviolette said, regarding his friend, Massie. “It’s better to have someone around because you never know what can happen.” A farmers’ market and an outdoor mass were also part of the parade lineup of events. Samme Putzel of Excellent Events highlighted the contribution of local firefighters to the success of the Horse and Buggy Parade. “What a great day we all had,” Putzel said. “The weather was fantastic and hundreds of friends took advantage of this Canadian summer celebration at its peak. We would like to thank the Vankleek Hill Fire Depart- ment for ensuring the safety of our visitors and residents.” &/#3&'r#3*&'4 CHANSON LA DERNIÈRE PENDAISON Écrite et interprétée par Chantal Major de Lefaivre, la chanson La dernière pendaison a été composée en l’honneur de la huitième année du spectacle. De passage à nos bureaux, la femme native de Hawkesbury a annoncé que le lancement aura lieu à la Légion royale canadienne de Hawkesbury, le mardi 24 juillet à 19 h. Avec une approche méditative à la fin de chaque chapitre, l’auteure invite les lecteurs à découvrir leur propre conscience, leur vraie nature qui leur parle d’une façon directe et profonde. On y retrouve également de l’espoir, de l’amour inconditionnel et un retour à la vérité.
