Ireland's Plumbing & Heating Magazine Issue 111 Jan-Feb

Nigel Blackburn has been described as someone who provides a positive work culture across the business but also brings this positivity and sense of responsibility to the local community. He is the founder and managing director of Easa Group Limited, but a busy routine doesn’t stop this gentleman from making Christmas and other dates more cheerful for those in need. Nigel works tirelessly for charity. During the Holidays, he literally steps into Santa’s shoes and collects older vulnerable people on Christmas morning to bring them to a church hall for dinner. The meal is a real family affair, assisted by his wife’s cooking talent and his kids’ table-waiting skills. Donations made to kids’ Christmas collections are also part of his charitable work during the holidays. He also facilitates company charitable support at the company, like acting as driver extraordinaire to take runners from Easa to marathons. Nigel’s contribution goes beyond the local community. He has driven supplies to an orphanage in Romania and made corporate and personal contributions to the aid efforts for the crisis in Ukraine. The judges felt not many people have such a history of contribution to others, and Nigel Blackburn is a worthy winner of the Unsung Hero Award. Karen McAvoy presents the award on behalf of Dowds Group to Nigel Blackburn from EASA Group Ltd. WINNER: Unsung Hero NIGEL BLACKBURN, EASA GROUP LIMITED KINDLY SPONSORED BY: DOWDS GROUP

The Catherine Patterson Award rewards installers who show great promise in character and exemplary workmanship and, according to the judges, Gary’s work ethic makes him a very worthy winner. Gary’s commitment to the homeowner’s or business’ health and safety when it comes to gas boiler systems was a great winning point. For Gary and his team, it is important to ensure the boiler system is not just fitted correctly, but that it is regularly serviced, guaranteeing that the system works adequately and meets all required building and safety regulations. Gary and his team are Gas Safe registered and have a reputation trusted by Calor Gas, the biggest name in the off-grid energy market. They are fully qualified to fit, repair and service all gas and oil boiler systems. Gary also installs, services, and repairs a wide range of appliances. One of his clients stated that choosing a contractor can be a very stressful thing, and it is very good to have a professional you can trust such as Gary. He classified the plumber’s job as first class. All of Gary’s work is surveyed, and clients receive a free, no-obligation, quotation. His company uses only high-quality fixtures and appliances from reputable suppliers to ensure all jobs are carried out and finished to the highest possible standard.
