Possibilité d’un projet solaire à Curran
Démission du directeur de l’aménagement du territoire Le directeur du Service de l’aménagement du territoire et de la construction de la Cité de Clarence-Rockland, Michael Michaud, a remis sa démission au conseil municipal, le 5 août dernier. C’est lors de la réunion spéciale du 13 août que le conseil a accepté la démission de M. Michaud et a adopté une résolution pour lancer le pro- cessus d’embauche. En poste depuis 2009, Michael Michaud a quitté pour des raisons personnelles. En attendant de trouver un remplaçant, le conseil municipal a nommé Marie-Ève Bélanger, afin d’occuper le poste par intérim. – Véronique Charron une des firmes d’EDF EN Canada Deve- lopment inc. Ce projet d’énergie solaire serait basé sur un terrain de 140 acres à l’intersection du chemin de comté 2 et 19, à près de 5 km à l’ouest de Curran. L’engagement de lamunicipalité devait être acquis par le promoteur, afin qu’il puisse soumettre son projet à la Société indépendante d’exploitation du réseau d’électricité (SIERE). Le projet est encore en phase prélimi- naire, puisque la date d’échéance pour soumettre le projet est le 1 er septembre. Cette demande devra être acceptée par le SIERE, qui devrait dévoiler les projets auxquels elle donnera suite en décembre. Le conseil a précisé que toute entente entre le promoteur et lamunicipalité sont conditionnelles à l’octroi de ce contrat pour le projet d’énergie renouvelable. Si tout respecte les plans des déve- loppeurs, le début de la construction des panneaux solaires est prévu vers la fin de 2017 ou au courant de l’année 2018. Le représentant d’EDF EN Canada Development inc., Kevin Campbell, a affirmé aux conseillers qu’aucun enga- gement financier n’était nécessaire de la part du canton d’Alfred-Plantagenet, mais que la réalisation du projet pourrait rapporter un revenu à lamunicipalité sur une période de 20 ans et plus. Une assemblée publique pour consul- ter la communauté a d’ailleurs eu lieu à ce sujet, le 9 juillet dernier, au Forum de Curran.
