The study aims to understand the role of such actors at the global level. The researcher assumes that these channels play a more complex role beyond their informative function, including in the geopolitical and diplomatic spheres. This role can be explained by the politics of countries hosting or funding those channels, through which they seek to advance their interests and acquire an influential weapon that experts call soft power. The cases of France 24 and Al Jazeera are quite revealing. They implement different strategies to influence the international media. They offer an interesting case study for different reasons. Their appearance is separated by almost ten years, giving two completely different contexts in which they were created. The interest in them within the scientific community varies considerably. Finally, the impact of the two channels is also different. Despite these differences, there are similarities between them, including the size and type, the public they target, and the role they want to play.
