The researcher believes that Al Jazeera Documentary has not been studied enough and its content has not been analyzed and scrutinized in an academic manner. In order to understand the channel’s explicit and implicit messages and identify the cognitive role it has been playing in shaping public opinion, the study provides a critical analysis of a selected sample of the channel’s documentaries aired at the beginning of the popular movement known as the Arab revolutions. This research belongs to the field of television criticism, and employs the descriptive analytical methodology. The study also used the content analysis approach to analyze the data collected during the research timeframe. In this work, the researcher analyzed a sample of Al Jazeera documentaries, consisting of 129 documentary films. The study covers a very significant period of time in the Egyptian modern history. It extends from the end of 2011 before the Muslim Brotherhood came to power, all the way through 2012, until their departure from power towards the end of 2013.
