The research focuses on those in charge of communication in the Sudanese media as well as a sample of Arab satellite channels represented by Al Jazeera. The sample also includes respondents from Nyala, the capital city of South Darfur. The searcher employed the descriptive methodology and used various tools to collect data such as survey, questionnaire, interview and observation. The findings show that 83% of respondents affirm that the state of freedom of media and expression is not positive. 94% of them believe that media penetration through television networks and the Internet affects the national sovereignty, as the state can no longer control its spaces and block the contents flowing in from outside the borders. 95% think that gatekeeping in print press became useless after the emergence of electronic media and the freedom of expression they offered. The study also found that 39% of respondents watch Sudanese channels, while 100% confirmed that Al Jazeera reports on the issues of concern to Arab citizens in a positive way.
