parents. Qualified leadership is a necessity. Christian living on the home level can also be taught through good literature. Children and youth — and adults too — are influenced by what they read. The average magazine rack in most Christian homes, however, is often devoid of any good Christian literature. The church can encourage subscribing to C h r istian magazines. Some churches even offer several maga­ zines free of charge to all families. They have found that the invest­ ment on a group basis pays divi­ dends in stronger homes. Sunday school papers afford excellent read­ ing material for all ages. A good church library offering Bible story books, Christian fiction and biogra­ phies will place the right kind of literature in our homes. The area of family conferences needs to be explored. One large de­ nomination offers a family confer­ ence annually. Four separate camps are run simultaneously on a large West Coast conference grounds. For two years the total registration of the junior, high school, college and adult camp has been about 900. Families may be instructed in Christian home living through well- planned family emphasis weeks. In­ creasingly more and more churches are stressin g National Family Week. Special sermons by the pas­ tor on the scriptural foundations of the home, relationships of husband and wife, children and parents, and the ministry of home to the com­ munity offer spiritual motivation and instruction in the establishment of real Christian homes. Assistance in setting up a program for Nation­ al Family Week may be obtained th rou gh the National Sunday School Association. Informal parent-teacher meet­ ings afford o p p o r tu n it y for the church to assist the home in the proper sp ir itu a l training of the children. Sunday school workers can effectively inform parents of their aims and activities. Ways in which parents can assist their chil­ dren in reading the Word of God and completing their workbooks for the following Sunday might also be given. A n o th e r w a y in w h ich the church can help to strengthen the home is by assisting families to
