Prevent Constipation

C onstipation is a very common health complaint, and it affects around 20 percent of Australians. Constipation is a condition in which you cannot move your bowels on a regular schedule, resulting in a hard stool that is difficult to pass. What constitutes a ‘normal’ bowel routine varies widely between people – some go once or twice a day, others just two or three times a week. Constipation is defined as occurring when whatever bowel routine is normal for you slows dramatically. Symptoms of constipation include straining to pass a bowel motion; a feeling of incomplete evacuation; hard, lumpy stools; infrequent bowel motions; abdominal pain, fullness, bloating and rectal discomfort.
