YEAR 10 - NORMANDY TRIP

On Friday 10 July our Year 10 French students arrived full of excitement at 5.15am to hop on their coach and head to Dover. After a scenic journey they arrived at Hotel de Normandie in Saint Aubin sur Mer, their home for the next three nights. They had a short promenade along the beach front before enjoying a well deserved meal. On Saturday the group headed to Caen to visit a typical French Market where they tested their language skills speaking to the vendors, while the afternoon was spent bowling! Sunday was quite different, as the group visited Arromanches 360, a unique circular cinema, known for its immersive, high-definition footage of the D-Day landings and the Battle of Normandy. On Sunday afternoon they went to one of France’s most iconic

landmarks, Mont St Michel, a rocky island village with its dramatic medieval abbey. It was a hot day and they all enjoyed an icecream to cool down! The final day was spent visiting a calvados distillery (no tastings allowed!) followed by a stop off at Honfleur on the journey back to Calais to catch the ferry home.
