borders, on 3 sides, the green at the 9th hole on the Red course. Perhaps you’ve seen the historical sign at the top of Memorial Drive as you drive up to the club house. The vast majority of these old forts are gone now. Only 5 of them have undergone major restoration efforts. About 25 of them still have earthworks that are partiallyvisible; but are largely overgrown and about 20 of them only have historical markers similar to Fort Richardson’s. Before our little piece of history is lost, the ANCCF is sponsoring an effort to better memorialize and recognize this important historical site. We propose to replicate the fine work that Arlington County and the National Park Service did with Fort Ethan Allen in North Arlington and erect a similar historical interpretive display near the current Fort Richardson site. For more information on our plans for Fort Richardson and the ANCC Foundation’s efforts to publicize and memorialize this and all facets of the Club’s history, please click here . To ensure the publication of the nomination in the Annual Meeting Packet, we must receive the nomination no later than Tuesday, 1 August 2017. We will permit nominations from the floor at the Annual Meeting, but please advise me of any such notifications prior to the meeting so I can ensure the floor nomination is of a qualified Resident Member. The use of military rank for nomination and election purposes is permissible under Title 10 of the US Code. For example, an Active Duty army officer identify may identify herself in the form of “CPT Jane Doe, USA,” and a retired army officer may identify herself as “CPT Jane Doe, USA (Ret.). Former military officers may not use their former rank as a preface, but may use their highest wartime rank as follows: Ms. Jane Doe (CPT, USA). I strongly encourage those who are interested in serving on the Board of Governors to familiarize themselves with our By-Laws, Club Rules, and Organization Manual.
