BEGINNING TO ADVANCED CERAMICS A relaxed class environment where students of all skill levels can delve into hand-building. The class will offer individual attention for beginning students and demonstrations for more advanced students. Fee includes glazes and firing. This class will have multiple instructors. Explore your ideas and improve your pottery-making abilities in this wheel-focused class. Join Molly for a refresher as well as learn new techniques in clay. Molly will demonstrate hand-building additions and decorating techniques for your wheel-thrown pieces. This class is for students who have learned the fundamentals of throwing. BEGINNING WHEEL Whether you are new to the pottery wheel, or it's been a while since you've taken a spin, Ryan McDonald will guide you through the ABCs of throwing. The focus of this class will be to home in on learning basic wheel throwing skills such as centering, forming cylinders, bowls, and attaching handles. Surface decoration techniques using underglazes, slip application, carving, and foundational elements of successful glaze application will also be covered. The last class session will be a potluck where we gather to show and discuss our work and future aspirations. Fee includes firing and glazes. MUGS: YOU CAN HANDLE THIS WORKSHOP

The best part of waking up is not the coffee, but rather admiring the beauty of a cup created by you! Join Ryan McDonald as he helps you explore various handle techniques such as slab rolled, extruded, and pulled. Please bring in 1-3 leather hard greenware mugs, tools for attaching and smoothing slip, and 5-10 lbs of clay. Those who do not have greenware mugs can watch the demonstrations, take notes, and ask questions and use this helpful information for future use. INTERMEDIATE TO ADVANCED HANDBUILDING

Let’s play with clay together! Pinch, coil, slab and carve both functional and sculptural pieces. This quarter’s theme will be springtime and Year of the Rabbit. Thorly's demos will explore form and surface design including a slab-built bud vase, a sculptural covered dish, and a whimsical fence post finial. Fee includes glazes and firing.
