Steering Shafts Depending on usage, the Dodge Ram steering coupler can show signs of wear in as little as 50,000 miles. This wear, which causes play in the truck’s steering, is even more noticeable if your truck is used for plowing, towing or if oversized tires have been installed. Replacing the worn steering shaft with another OEM shaft only gives you a temporary fix. Borgeson has replacement steering shaft assemblies with precision needle bearing u-joints available for ‘79-‘19 Dodge Ram trucks.

INTERMEDIATE SHAFT BUSHINGS Stop Chasing Steering Slop
One of the steering problems we found on Ram Turbo Diesel trucks is that the little bushing on the intermediate steering shaft can wear, allowing movement within the shaft. To fix this problem, Clay at EMF came up with an inexpensive fix by manufacturing an aluminum bushing that can be pressed into the collar, removing the slop. This bushing is machined out of aluminum and has a tapered end to allow for ease of installation. The whole process takes about 5 minutes or less to install, is extremely

inexpensive, and works wonders for your steering column. We now offer options that provide the same solution: The EMF option is made of aluminum, and metal-to-metal can sometimes cause a slight vibration or noise in your steering wheel. The Bad Axe version is made of a poly-material, similar to Delran, which typically adds no extra noise or vibration. We can't decide ourselves. They are both are great products and credit is due to Clay at EMF for coming up with a great fix. Your choice, EMF aluminum inserts or Bad Axe Steering poly material. Either way, you can't go wrong.
