The appeal of vicious propaganda en snares those who are not grounded in the truth of God’s Word. Christians are ex horted to “ desire the sincere milk of the word, that ye may grow thereby” (1 Pet. 2:2). An undernourished soul can be tricked easily into accepting substitutes for God’s plan of salvation. Are we so filled with His Spirit and with a knowledge of His Word that we can detect error in the many propositions which are presented to u s ? Modern cults and isms have sprung up like mushrooms. Many of them appear, on the surface, to be acceptable, for they often use Scripture as the basis for their argu ments. However, statements of the Bible can very simply be distorted and miscon strued by a clever bit of interpretation that disregards the main redemptive message that runs throughout the Scriptures. Here are several questions which may be applied to any religion or social theory. If they cannot be answered aifirmatively, the system is not in accord with God’s will. 1. Does it accept the Bible as God’s Word, totally inspired and given by Him as His only revelation to man? 2. Does it acknowledge the fact of hu man sin and depravity? 3. Does it accept Christ as God’s only begotten Son, the One through whose merit alone sinners can be saved and made pre sentable to God? 4. Does it believe that spiritual regen eration is the only way to social and eco nomic reformation ?•— S elected . I I . I visited 129 preparatory schools in the Saratov and Moscow districts and cross-examined the children. The re sults of this inquiry were that our seven- to-eight-year-old children are completely free from the superstition connected with the Consciousness of a God . . . Great check must be placed on the homes and the par ents to see that no religious education be brought into play .—World Dominion. OCTOBER 24, 1937 MURDER AT THE STEERING WHEEL Love for God through the Lord Jesus Christ will reveal itself in a respect for His laws and His creatures. with a price; henceforth he purposes not to live unto himself. He expresses his love for the Lord by a selfless consideration of the welfare of others. The law of love becomes the controlling factor in his life, and he consequently desires to obey God’s com mandments. The cause of reckless driving and its dis astrous results may be traced to a disregard of God’s law of life, for many lives are unnecessarily snuffed out by carelessness at the steering-wheel. In reality, such deaths may be classed as murders, for lives have been taken unlawfully. We know that this carnage is not the will of God, for He is not the author of confusion, but of decency and order. The Word of God tells us that the devil was a murderer from the beginning and that it is his intention to destroy the lives
