Button Law Firm - July 2018

IT’S NOT A MYTH! A MUST-READ BOOK FOR ALL SMALL BUSINESS OWNERS

“E-Myth” is an amazing read for any small business owner or anyone looking to open a business. It takes you through the lasting, fundamental secret to running a successful business: systems. Even better, it walks you through the different phases you will go through mentally. Phase 1 discusses the exciting phase of being out on your own, doing everything yourself, and working long hours. Phase 2 begins once your product is selling and you start to get in over your head with work. You begin to hire, but you do it like everyone else. With no systems in place, your product begins to lose its magic appeal. You reach the fork in the road. You can downsize and never grow again, OR learn from your lessons and scale up with systems. After asking for help, you reach Phase 3 — scaling up with systems. You’ve heard me mention systems over and over, but it really comes to light in this book. For the last two years, we have been creating systems for the cases we are really good at, especially cases where kids are hurt at daycare. Now my team can carry out those tasks where we have established systems faster, better, and more efficiently

than we ever did before! It has even allowed us to take on more cases. We now have our marketing systems being put in place. It is freeing me up so much. Letting go of the belief that I had to handle every call, email, and task in the office has allowed us to process our cases faster and get even better results for our clients. I highly recommend this amazing book; it has been great for me and my business. We have been on systems overload putting everything in place to allow the Button Law Firm to

run smoothly, quickly, and efficiently. If you or anyone you know would like to run any small-business questions by me, reach out by email or call us. I would love to hear from you.

CILANTRO LIME SHRIMP SCAMPI PASTA

INGREDIENTS

• 1/4 cup chicken stock • 1/4 cup white wine • 2 tablespoons freshly squeezed lime juice • 4 ounces pasta linguine or fettuccine • fresh cilantro, chopped

• 1 pound raw shrimp, peeled and deveined • 2 tablespoons olive oil • 1/4 teaspoon salt • 1/2 teaspoon red pepper flakes • 4 garlic cloves, minced • 1/2 cup fresh cilantro, chopped

DIRECTIONS

1. Heat large skillet until hot on medium heat. Add 1 tablespoon olive oil — it should run easily but not sizzle or burn. Add shrimp to skillet, making sure it doesn’t crowd, and sprinkle salt and red pepper flakes over shrimp. Cook shrimp, stirring once or twice on medium heat for 3–4 minutes, or until pink in color. 2. Add minced garlic, chopped cilantro, chicken stock, white wine, and lime juice to skillet. Reheat gently on medium heat, stirring to combine, for about 1 minute. Remove shrimp from skillet. 3. Cook pasta according to package instructions. Drain. 4. Add pasta to skillet with sauce. Mix to coat. Taste and add salt as needed. 5. Add shrimp back on top of pasta. Garnish with chopped fresh cilantro.
