With its vintage ambience that recalls a Parisian bistro, La Libera is a trattoria located in Brera, attracting young couples, professionals and tourists. Diners can indulge in Milanese, Lombard and traditional Italian specialities at this restaurant that was formerly an osteria (tavern). It was renovated by owners Italo and Gino, who preserved some of its original features, including the wood panelling and the counter.

Although dishes change from season to season, some feature year-round, including the all-time favourite Orecchia d’elefante , a Milanese- style breaded cutlet that is one of the best in town.

Among the most popular dishes are cotoletta alla Milanese (Milanese-style breaded cutlet) and risotto allo zafferano (saffron risotto).

Opened in 1991, this restaurant is set in a 13th century building, tucked away in a verdant setting south of Milan’s bustling centre (its name was inspired by the sounds of croaking frogs nearby).
