Senior School Discover Queen ’ s: Performing Arts Day for Exeter Cathedral School

This week we welcomed pupils from Exeter Cathedral School to Queen ’ s.

The whole of their Year 7 arrived to enjoy a jam - packed day of singing, drama, dance and theatre inspired art. Inspired by the theme of “ Wishes Come True ”, the visitors learned songs and dances from ‘ Mary Poppins ’ with Miss Wills and Miss Buckingham. They then took part in drama workshops thinking about making wishes to turn friends and enemies into pets, in the style of ‘ Bedknobs and Broomsticks ’. Finally, they made replica armour in the style of the invisible warriors from the finale of the

beloved Disney film. Everybody seemed to join in with great enthusiasm! On the subject of wishing, we invited our visitors to watch a performance of ‘ Into the Woods ’ which is a musical that considers the risks of dreams coming true. It was fabulous to welcome the pupils and their staff to Queen ’ s and look forward to seeing them here again soon.

Music Tech

In our music tech classes, we have been learning about the many ways of recording, mixing, and mastering music. From choosing and positioning microphones in a studio setup to sequencing synthesised sounds to create musical soundscapes. We will be covering all the different areas in music production to enable all of our technicians to thrive in their own way and genre. Having covered the technical aspects of music production, we will be recording and creating covers and original songs for use within our upcoming music and dance showcases. The use of songs produced by our music technicians in our dance performances will provide a brilliant

cooperation between our Co - Curriculum programs.
