Table 4.1: Central Area Development Pipeline Project
Description
Access Butler Place Plan
The Butler Place project explored ways to transform an historic public housing site into a vibrant, mixed-use district, reconnecting it to Downtown and surrounding neighborhoods. By improving access, multimodal connectivity, and development opportunities, this initiative unlocks long-isolated land, supporting connectivity and growth to and from Fort Worth’s urban core.
Convention Center Expansion
The Fort Worth Convention Center is undergoing a multi-phase expansion and modernization to increase exhibit and meeting space, add new amenities, and ultimately replace an aging arena with flexible event space to strengthen the City’s ability to host large conventions and support adjacent development, including a future hotel pad and improved pedestrian access.
Texas A&M University (TAMU)
Texas A&M University has broken ground on the Aplin Center, a $250M+, 211,000-square-foot immersive learning hub and visitor center that will support hospitality, retail, marketing and food science education while serving as a campus “front door,” with completion expected in 2028.
