Recommendations The following recommendations contextualize the proposed projects that will be funded and implemented over the next 25-years. Recommendation #1: Increase Lane Capacity by 69.04 miles 15 corridors were identified to have potential lane expansion projects to help create additional capacity, reduce congestion and improve traffic flow in the future.
Recommendation #2: Create Connections to New Development & Growth Centers 31 new roadway corridors creating 53 miles of new roadway are proposed to better connect new development and growth areas with the rest of the City network and improve access to key destinations. Recommendation #3: Improve Traffic Flow, Efficiency, & Safety at Key Intersections Operational improvements at 30 strategic intersections aim to improve delays and safety for intersections in the City that have highest traffic volumes (2,700 trips on average).
Recommendation #4: Increase Roadway Capacity in City’s Downtown Core Additional roadway capacity and multimodal solutions are needed on key corridors to support growth and help move more trips out of cars to other modes. Compact growth and a stronger core will create more traffic on key access corridors to the downtown. Yet city- wide network performance will benefit from denser core with shorter travel times in outer areas.
