6.10.3. Existing Travel Patterns Travel patterns within the Core Area today reflect the daytime employment dominance of Downtown Fort Worth. The strongest intra- district activity connects West 7th / Cultural District, Downtown, and the Near Southside, reflecting the concentration of office employment, healthcare, cultural destinations, and emerging residential uses in these neighborhoods. White Settlement Road and West 7th Street already carry high volumes of this intra-Core traffic and are projected to reach capacity under baseline growth projections by 2050, even without the additional demand associated with more ambitious growth scenarios. The Core Area’s relationship to the broader city is primarily as an attractor of trips rather than an origin. Most of the access traffic arriving in the Core travels along a small number of principal corridors, including the IH-35W and IH-820 interchange area, the Henderson Street bridge complex, East Northside Drive, and West Lancaster Avenue. The concentration of access on these few facilities means that capacity constraints on any one of them can have outsized effects on mobility throughout the Core.
