8.10.3. Partnerships Fort Worth’s transportation system does not operate in isolation. Realizing the investments identified in this plan requires sustained coordination with state and regional partners — most significantly the Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT) and the Trinity Metro regional transit authority. The projects listed below represent Fort Worth’s current partnership commitments: corridors and programs where City investment, advocacy, or coordination is essential to project delivery. TxDOT Partnerships Many of Fort Worth’s most critical corridors are state-owned facilities. The City maintains an active partnership with TxDOT’s Fort Worth and Dallas Districts to advance reconstruction, safety, and capacity improvements on these roadways. Table 8.26 identifies ten priority TxDOT partnership projects totaling approximately $147 million, ranging from near-term right-of-way and design investments to longer-horizon reconstruction and interchange improvements. Projects span the full geography of the city — from the US 81/287 corridor in the north to IH 30 in the east and west — and include direct City cash contributions to bridge reconstruction, interchange construction, and corridor-wide safety improvements. The phased structure of several projects, notably RM 2871 and IH 30 E, reflects a deliberate strategy of investing in design and right- of-way preservation early to enable construction delivery by 2030–2034.
