Access Butler Place Potential Projects These potential access and circulation improvements are derived from the City’s Access Butler Place planning effort, which was initiated to address limited connectivity to the Butler Place area. The district is surrounded by elevated freeways and complex transportation infrastructure that restrict direct local access. The plan evaluated options to improve regional access while strengthening local street connectivity and supporting redevelopment goals within Butler Place and nearby neighborhoods. The concept illustrates a coordinated set of improvements to better connect IH 30, US 287, Butler Place, Harmon Field Park, and surrounding areas. Key elements include reconfigured ramps, new or modified direct access points, and strengthened local street connections. Together, these changes improve access to IH 30 and IH 35W, reduce indirect travel patterns, and create more intuitive connections between the regional highway system and adjacent neighborhoods. The concept also supports the transition of US 287 from a high-speed freeway segment to a multimodal thoroughfare, improving connectivity to downtown, Butler Place, and nearby parks and activity centers. Specific designs, phasing, and funding strategies will be developed through future corridor studies and coordination with TxDOT and other partner agencies.
