Private Housing Project of the Year WINNER: DB BUILDING CONTRACTS, MOIRA GATE, MOIRA
Moylinney is a unique social housing development, crafted with the end-user in mind. Situated on a brownfield site, it offers six family homes and 14 spacious apartments. It stands as Northern Ireland’s first scheme following HAPPI standards, ensuring that aging individuals find welcoming, safe and dignified homes. The project was delivered in conjunction with Hall Black Douglas for Radius Housing Association. It successfully achieved its vision of providing energy-efficient, affordable and bright homes with private and communal open spaces that promote residents’ mental wellbeing. Judges noted the high-quality finishes, extensive glazing and positive resident feedback. Delivered on time and under budget, this secured-by-design project exemplifies collaborative success. Moira Gate is a high-quality, modern development in the village of Moira with the principle of sustainable living at its core. The judging panel highlighted how this exceptional project integrates sympathetically with its rural surroundings through its sensitive use of materials, generous spacing, and carefully designed landscaped open space. The panel was impressed by the inclusion of several renewable energy measures, such as the discreet in-roof mounted PV panels, EV charging points, and the effective use of glazing and insulation to support the drive towards net zero. The judges appreciated the attention to detail, the high-quality finishes, and the development’s distinctive sense of place.
