Social Value Project of the Year

GRAHAM achieved a lasting impact with this project by delivering social value through a strong partnership with the client, local community, and the city. The project delivered employability and skills outcomes, including apprenticeships and placements but also supported the local community thanks to significant environmental initiatives, such as reducing fuel consumption and air pollution on the site. This initiative has been adopted throughout the company, maximising the project’s long-term impact. According to the judges, the project ticked all the boxes in these priority areas of social value, increasing secure employment and skills, supporting ethical and resilient supply chains, and working towards net zero. WINNER: GRAHAM, GRAND CENTRAL STATION BUSWAY BRIDGE & RAMPS PROJECT, BELFAST

This multifaceted company impressed the judges for being able to implement significant data gathering processes and IT systems while focusing its resources on creating behaviours within the workforce at all levels. Staff health, safety and wellbeing are the number one priority for the business, and the company aims to develop talent and provide opportunities to ensure Breedon is a diverse and inclusive business. Breedon Group’s performance monitoring is communicated throughout the business to drive improvements not only in the delivery of safety on sites, but also the overall attitude and environment within the company from bottom to top to create a “fair and just” culture. The judges were impressed by how the company fosters a good working environment through fair and respectful interaction. Breedon Group is committed to building a diverse and inclusive culture and provides a supportive working environment for all its colleagues. Breedon Group believes that the more diverse its workforce is and the more inclusive its working environments are, the better the company can master future challenges.
