ANCC CLUB Championship The ANCC Club Championship is the tournament that matches your golf skills one-on-one with each of your fellow competitors. The championship this year will be contested over one weekend – October 12, 13 & 14 and will include both a Men’s and Women’s Division. Click here for information and to enter. ALL Golf Shop gift certificates and credits on Member’s credit book MUST be redeemed by Tuesday, 31 December. Any certificate or credit not used by this date will be void and discarded. WGO-18: WOMEN'S 18 HOLE GOLF ORGANIZATION

Play Days Continue

We will continue Play Days and special tournaments, such as the Halloween Challenge, through October. Congratulations to the winner of the annual WGO-18 Championship Tournament, Judi Enright, who shot a pair of 77s to win the 2-day tournament this year.

CWGO: CAREER WOMEN'S GOLF ORGANIZATION We will host the MJ Major on October 19th at Arlington in honor of our former Pro and Director of Play M.J. Smith. This is an individual stroke play event with a Modified Stableford format. We will also have a PAR 3 50/50 Challenge to raise funds for our Breast Cancer Care Bags. Register here to join us! Men’s Saturday Morning Intraclub Tennis League (7:00 to 9:00 AM & 9:00 to 11:00 AM) The Saturday Morning Men’s Intraclub Tennis League will continue through the outdoor season. There is an annual $10 participation fee, but then this is a free program and a great no hassle way to meet new tennis partners. Click here to sign-up online. Ladies’ Tuesday Evening Intraclub Tennis League (Tuesday 6:30 to 8:00 PM) For those ladies unable to play during the day, or if you’re just looking for another casual match - there is an annual $10 participation fee, but then this is a free program and a great no hassle way to meet new tennis partners. Click here to sign-up online. Contact Pro Neil Bennett for additional information. Ladies’ Open Tennis Seeking Interested Players The ANCC Ladies Open Tennis tradition is over 50 years old. We are a group of women who love to play tennis and we play twice weekly during the indoor season, Tuesdays and Thursdays, 1:00 to 2:30 PM. If a player is unable to play due to vacation, work or another commitment, she does not have to find a substitute. Our group offers the flexibility of playing with more or less than four players, so if you show up you will always play. For more information, please contact the Tennis Pro Shop. Ladies’ Evening Clinic (Monday 6:30 to 8:00 PM) These clinics will consist of drills/strategy. The 1.5 hour session will help players craft their doubles skills. For intermediate to advanced players only. Cost is $30/participant. The weekly sign- up online will be closed at a maximum of 6 players/week/clinic. Contact the Pro Shop for more information. Weekday Cardio Clinics (Wednesday 1:00 to 2:00 PM, Tuesday 7:00 to 8:30 PM, and Thursday 6:30 to 7:30 PM) For those Members looking for cardio on weekdays, join Pro Jean-Marc (1.5 hour session) or Pro Bridget Merrick (1 hour session) on Wednesday and Thursday evenings. These clinics are designed to provide an intense workout and certain minimum physical requirements might need to be met before joining. Please contact Pro Jean-Marc or Pro Bridget Merrick to see if this clinic is the right way for you to get into great shape. Cost: $25/participant Sunday Cardio Clinic (Sunday 10:00 to 11:00 AM) For those members looking for a fast-paced, tennis-based cardio session, please join Pro Matt King for his weekly Cardio Clinic. This clinic is designed to provide an intense workout and certain minimum physical requirements might need to be met before joining. The Indoor Tennis Season will begin Friday, 1 November. On November 1, contract times commence and all tennis operations and pro shop services will operate from the Indoor Tennis Center. The contract season schedule will be posted on October 15 for all Members who made con- tract requests prior to October 1. Members still looking for a contract time can obtain more information here and can request contract time here. Classes meet in the Group Fitness Studio on the main level of the Clubhouse. Please register online by clicking here. Classes are offered on a subscription basis and “drop-ins” are allowed at some classes for a higher fee. Between the 15th and 25th of each month, Members may sign up for the following month’s classes online, by calling extension 1234, or by emailing john.porter@ancc.org. Learn the fundamentals of a Vinyasa yoga practice in a slow environment to increase flexibility. group exercise studio SCHEDULE Forever Fit - Mon. at 4:00 pm & Thurs. at 11:00 am (45 min) To help you stay active and healthy as you grow older, this class focuses on balance, flexibility, and light strengthening. Fitness Fusion - Tues. (for Beginners) / Thurs. at 8:30 am A combination of step aerobics, full-body toning, and core conditioning, all in one class! A full-body workout that incorporates powerful Pilates exercises to build core strength and stability, and soothing stretches (from yoga). CSI (Core-Stretch Integration)- mon./wed. at 6:00 PM

New "Beginner's Yoga & Stretch" Class Mondays at 9:45 AM & Wednesdays at 11:00 AM previously obtained a PIN for the touchpad security system, you need not apply again. Members using the Fitness Center between 7:00 AM and 8:00 PM weekdays (or between 8:30 AM and 5:30 PM weekends) will not need to obtain a PIN as the door will remain unlocked during those hours. This class is designed for those students who have no previous yoga experience. Students will be learning the fundamentals of a Vinyasa yoga practice in a slow and safe environment. The class will begin with some gentle stretching to open the entire body (legs, shoulders, hips, back). You will then transition to very simple yoga poses to increase flexibility, strength and balance. The class will end with some core exercises followed by a three-minute relaxation. ANCC Foundation Did you know? Last month this space provided the background and actions taken to preserve the Memorial Drive side of Fort Richardson (Phase I). The next phase (Phase II) of the ANCC Foundation’s plan for the Fort is the installation of an interpretive display aimed at familiarizing the Membership with the configuration and history of Fort Richardson. The planning for this display, to consist of a bronze model of the fort and four picture/narrative Fort Richardson Interpretive Displays
