MAYOR’S MESSAGE

Welcome summer! With the warmer weather here, I’m pleased to announce that a variety of recreational opportunities are now available for you and your family to enjoy. While this is great news, please remember that COVID-19 is a fluid situation. Facility closures, program cancellations, changes to capacity limits and altered entry procedures may occur at any time, with little warning as directed by the Province of Ontario and our local health unit, Southwestern Public Health. Your patience and understanding are appreciated. As always, if you feel unwell, please think of others and stay home. Should your symptoms worsen, please get tested. Stay safe, stay healthy and have fun! For the most current information on the spread of COVID-19 in our area, please visit www.tillsonburg.ca/cvu

Take your shower at home just prior to coming to the pool, or for your convenience, there is a shower on the pool deck. • Our concession booth will be open. Prepackaged foods and select drinks will be available for purchase. You are welcome to bring your own snacks if you prefer. No alcohol or glass containers are allowed. • At the end of your time a whistle will be blown to indicate the end of the swim. You will be directed to leave at the north gate of the facility. • During weather emergencies patrons who have driven to our facility will be asked to return to their vehicles until the emergency is over. Those who have walked to our facility will be kept safe in the building until the weather emergency ends.

When you arrive • The pathway directly in front of Lake Lisgar Waterpark is the only entrance to the facility. • All patrons will be screened for COVID-19 symptoms upon arrival. • After you have checked in with our admission staff you will be directed to the west gate for entry into the Waterpark. • Participants are responsible for maintaining their own physical distance while at the pool. Wristband Policy and Pool Admission Standards

*Individuals with serious medical conditions should be accompanied by an individual 12+ years of age who is knowledgeable of their condition and will be responsible for direct supervision.

We use wristbands and a facility swim test to identify young and at-risk swimmers in the pool. To pass the facility swim test, a child must be able to swim two widths of the pool with his or her face in the water. Swimmers must maintain a regular, comfortable breathing pattern and must not stop during the entire distance.

Red Band All children 5 & under MUST be within arm’s reach of a responsible guardian (12 years+) on a 1:2 ratio. Children ages 6-9 who cannot pass the swim test MUST be within arm’s reach of a responsible guardian (12 years+) on a 1:4 ratio. This ratio can be increased to 1:8 if lifejackets are worn.

Yellow Band Children (6-9 years) will receive a yellow band if they would like to attempt to pass the facility swim test. Results of the test will determine whether the child receives a Red or Green band. When a child passes the swim test they will receive a FREE photo card as proof that they have passed. **

Green Band Children (6-9 years) who pass the Swim Admission Test may swim unaccompanied. Children with green bands may be asked to retake the test if staff are concerned that the child cannot demonstrate the ability to maintain the Swim Admission Standard.

16

Passed your swim test? Get your FREE member card to prove it! Once you have successfully completed your swim test you’ll gain membership into our exclusive “I Passed The Swim Test!” club and receive a member card. Just present your card at each visit (or simply provide your name) and you’ll receive your green band.

**Replacement cards $5.00

Why are some levels combined ?

COVID-19 has changed so much in our world, including the way we schedule our swimming lessons. Due to capacity limits, enhanced cleaning protocols and the time required to sanitize between pool user groups, some levels will be taught together. Rest assured, your swimmer(s) will still learn the strokes and skills for their level, however instruction time will be shared with swimmers at a similar level. The following classes will be taught in a combined format.

• Preschool 2 & 3 • Preschool 4 & 5 • Swimmer 3 & 4 • Swimmer 5 & 6 • Swimmer 7, 8 & 9

About our youth swimming lessons... • Levels are progressive. If you are unsure of what level to register in, please contact us for an assessment at aquatics@tillsonburg.ca or call 519.688.9011. • Children ages 7+ must change in their gender specific changeroom. Our staff changerooms are available for your use if you are not comfortable sending your child in alone. • Children who are not toilet trained must wear a swim diaper. • Parents are permitted to view lessons from the pool deck. Only one parent per child please due to COVID-19 building capacity limits.

• On occasion, the pool may be closed due to fouling. The pool will re-open once the water chemistry is balanced. If a pool fouling occurs during instructional lessons, we will provide a dry land lesson where possible or provide each participant with a Family Swim Pass valued at $10.00. • No shoes are permitted on the pool deck. Bring your own deck designated shoes or cover your shoes with the supplied shoe booties. • Left something behind on your last visit? All found items are held for 2 weeks. After 2 weeks, items are donated to a local charitable organization.

Stage 3 of Ontario’s COVID-19 reopening plan allows for more participants. Please note that our changerooms do not accommodate more than 10 patrons per changeroom. We suggest arriving and leaving in your swimsuit during the summer months or be prepared to wait your turn based on usage .

46

• If your child is absent from their lesson, make up classes are not available. • If you have questions regarding your child’s progress or lessons, see the Lesson Supervisor on Deck. • If you miss the last day of lessons, report cards can be claimed at the customer service desk by booking an appointment for pick-up at 519.688.9011. Report cards will be held for 5 weeks from the last lesson date.

Aquatic user fees ($1.00) are included in all aquatic programs and admissions. This money helps fund capital projects and improvements.
