A Tribute to Adrienne and My Mom

T his month, we celebrate Mother’s Day on May 13. My mom was always an excellent role model, and she had a profound influence on my life. I credit her love and belief in my abilities for getting me to where I am today. Neither of my parents attended college, so my mom stressed to my sister and me how important it was for us to get a higher education. She always encouraged me to do well in school, and she did everything in her power to help me succeed. However, that doesn’t mean she did my homework for me. Instead, she was always checking up on me to make sure I was on top of my schoolwork and that I was making good grades. She was always supportive of my passions in and outside of school. My mom always encouraged us to do our best, maintain a positive mental outlook, and reach our full potential. I have always been grateful for everything she’s ever done for me. When I was in high school, my mom worked for the school I attended. She knew the administrators and all the teachers, so if I had decided I wanted to slack off in school (I didn’t!), she would’ve been right there to kick my butt back into shape. I don’t think she took the job so that she could keep an eye on my sister and me. It was more that she wanted to make sure she was constantly at our disposal. It was honestly nice to have her there if I needed her. My mom lives about 20 minutes away from us, and she’s a huge part of my kids’ lives. Occasionally, my mom will treat the kids with a

trip to the dollar store, which they talk about

for days afterward. My daughter loves her dates with Grandma; they get along so well.

Having had such a great mom, it’s easy to see what a wonderful mom Adrienne is to our children. She’s a schoolteacher by day and Superwoman by night. She works so hard at school, and she comes home filled with happiness and positivity, ready to do whatever needs to be done. She wears all the hats, and she is the epitome of what it means to be a mom. I am constantly in awe of all that she does. I have no doubt that our children will blossom into wonderful human beings because of all that she does. I am truly grateful for all that my mom has done for our family. And I am so lucky to call Adrienne my wife and the mother of my children. Mom, Adrienne, I love you both so very much. Happy Mother’s Day!

I hope you have a great Mother’s Day. We look forward to seeing you soon.
