BRETT CHRISTENSEN Varsity Softball Head Coach

Taylor Surrento enters her first season as head Softball coach at Madison-Ridgeland Brett Christensen is entering his first year as head softball coach at Madison- Ridgeland Academy. He also teaches 8th grade STEM and is an assistant baseball coach. Christensen previously served as Head Varsity Baseball Coach at Park Place Christian Academy. He also served as assistant baseball coach at Richland HS and Southside Christian School and assistant softball and football coach at Park Place Christian Academy. Christensen graduated from the Belhaven University with a B.S. in Elementary Education and minors in Biological Sciences and Psychology. He is also a graduate of Holmes Community College with an A.A. in Biological Sciences. He was a

member of the Holmes’ baseball team and was inducted into the Holmes Community College Hall of Fame class of 2014. Under his leadership as head baseball coach at Park Place Christian Academy his teams saw 7 players continue their playing career at the collegiate level while rebuilding the program’s image and reputation. He also works as the camp coordinator for D-BAT Pearl. He has worked in numerous baseball camps and spoken at baseball clinics including coordination of an ACE Clinic for USA Baseball. Christensen is also a 6-year continuous member of the American Baseball Coaches’ Association (ABCA). Brett was recently married to his wife Mary Stafford in December 2019. They have a puppy named Reedy.

SETH SMITH Varsity Softball Assistant Coach

Seth Smith is entering his first year as assistant softball coach at Madison-Ridgeland Academy. Smith is a Jackson-area native and coaches travel softball within a local organization. He is a graduate of the University of Mississippi where he was a member of the football and baseball teams. While at Ole Miss, Smith was a Freshman All-American, a member of USA National Team in the Pan-Am games, and was drafted in the 2nd round by the Colorado Rockies. He played in Major League Baseball for 10 years with the Rockies, Athletics, Padres, Mariners, and Orioles. Smith officially retired from baseball in 2018. He is a resident of Madison with his wife, Lindsay, and together they have 3 children: Sienna (11), Cruise (7), and Price (5).
