Rei Pelushi - “Clinical Case Presentation” (session 20) Being a therapist, a counselor, a social worker, and a life coach is a big responsibility, and also a tremendous privilege. Having a positive impact on someone’s life is one of the greatest joys I have experienced. Throughout my 2 years in the MACC program, I have learned so much, and I never thought that my scope of practice will extend far beyond my expectations. My positive learning experience is because of the amazing professors the MACC program has, and my ability to extend my scope of practice is because of the 1 year time I have spent during my internship at Great Circle. During my internship, I have worked closely with patients from the age of 10 to 17 years old, I have been a facilitator on group therapy and also contributed to different family counseling. In this project, I am going to talk about the psychopathology aspect, the counseling theories used, and the appraisal related to one client I have worked with closely for almost 6 months Antonio Pepe Junior - “Alcohol: A Humanitarian Look” (session 14) Throughout the history of our society, one of the most impactful advances was the development of alcohol beverages and its introduction to our society. This compound has been very present in society throughout the years; consequently, it has had an impactful role in society. Our society has seen its positive impacts as well as the negative impacts of this compound as well. It is very important to understand how this chemical compound is metabolized by our body and what are the consequences of its absorption. Therefore, by understanding these functions, it helps to fully comprehend how the impacts we know come to happen. William Perkins -“Tularemia, a Case of Rabbit Fever” (session 1) Tularemia is a bacterial disease caused by Francisella tularensis, first identified in a lab in 1912. It is most commonly transmitted to humans through an animal host, often rabbits and rodents, lending to its colloquial name “rabbit fever”. It commonly afflicts hunters who have mishandled meat from an infected animal, but also frequently from the bites of several species of ticks, and even biting flies. Less frequently it has been documented to have been transmitted to humans through contaminated drinking water, and even has been documented to have been transmitted in an aerosol form when infected animals have been shredded, chopped up, or otherwise vaporized by industrial and agricultural equipment. Tularemia’s symptoms and severity depend largely on mode of transmission, and include ulcers of the skin, fever, pneumonia, and fever. Most cases once diagnosed can be treated with high likelihood of survival via antibiotics. The F. tularensis bacteria has also been considered for use as a biological warfare agent by the United States and other militaries, and has been rumored to have been used against the Germans by the Soviets during World War II.
