Arendela takes inspiration from briolette, a type of gemstone faceting that was invented in the late 15th century. The briolette cut is a pear-shaped stone that has facets on the entire surface. Typically used as a bead, the faceted stone hangs and catches the light from all sides, and is the inspiration for KOHLER Briolette Artist Editions vessel sink and our Arendela lighting collection. Also available in spun rondelle glass, which takes inpsiration from the murano glass created in the 1960s.

MEET THE DESIGNERS

Yes, I’d love to upgrade my bathtub to the Underscore VibrAcoustic with Heat- ed BubbleMassage. This tub is amaz- ing! I love music, and the VibrAcoustic technology from this tub emits sound waves and offers an amazing surround sound experience. Not to mention the 122 air jets with variable speed. #LOVEit Can you share a trend or something going on in the world of design that fascinates you? What I’m seeing a lot of is patterned tiles in the bathroom being used either on the floor or wall to make a state- ment, along with the mixing of metals in the kitchen. Who’s a historically-important figure you’d like to meet? I’d love to meet Vice President Kamala Harris. What can I say? She represents girl power to the fullest by being the highest-ranking female official in United States history—not to mention the first female VP of African American and South Asian descent. Marvelous. #GirlPOWER

My favorite design projects are smaller space projects because they tend to be more challenging. In a larger space, especially a kitchen, it’s easier to design. But when the space is limited, it chal- lenges you to focus on how to make the space more functionally effective and aesthetically pleasing. Is there a design-focused TV show or movie that you love? Two come to mind— Fixer Upper with Chip and Joanna Gaines as well as Property Brothers with the Scott Brothers. They’re kind of one and the same, but I love watching the transfor- mations. If you were a color, what color would you be—and why? I would be red. It’s bold and demands your attention. What type of design project do you find yourself working on most? I work on a lot of kitchen projects. Is there a design upgrade you’d love to make to your own home?

Traditional detail balanced with form and proportion for modern tastes, Kohler’s Harken brings sophistication to the bath or powder room.

How would you describe your person- al style? I like a mixture of styles and would describe myself as eclectic. Who inspires you? I’m inspired by people who step outside of their comfort zone going for that leap of faith. Can you describe a favorite design project you’ve worked on? TRACY WYNTER-EBANKS PARAMUS

The Ironridge farmhouse kitchen sink by Kohler features a sleek apron for a modern, clean- lined aesthetic that will complement any kitchen space from traditional to contemporary.

MODERN CLASSIC A NEW COLLECTION FROM KALLISTA

I nternationally-renowned architecture and design firm, Robert A.M. Stern Architects has teamed up with Kallista for a new bathroom collection—Central Park West—a chic brassware series that captures the sophistication of early 20th century design. The versatile collection is a complete bathroom suite that is appropriate for both hospitality and residential uses. The collection, which has universal appeal, blurs the lines between traditional and transitional design choices. “Specifying quantities of Kallista product in some of our large-scale apartment buildings formed the impetus for the collaboration between Kallista and Robert A.M. Stern Architects,” said Daniel Lobitz, a partner at the firm, who helps lead their product design initiatives. “Central Park West expresses our modern classical aesthetic, matching the highest end of the market in look, feel, and quality, but makes it more accessible to a broader audi- ence.” Lobitz continues, “We distilled details from historical precedents to establish a distinctive modern-yet-traditional character. We studied plumbing fixtures from the early T E X T DEBORAH L. MARTIN

20th century and adapted them to give the Central Park West Collection some of its signature notes: the knurling, for example, on the handles, supports, and spouts; and of course the monogram-style lettering, perhaps the most explicitly retro part of our design.” Central Park West is a comprehensive bathroom col- lection with multiple sink and bath faucets, a full range of

showering components and complementing accessories; and a new category for Kallista: a shower door handle pull, towel bar, and handle escutcheon. The collection also combines beautifully with other Kallista designs to create a one-of-a-kind personal oasis or provide a full product portfolio when specifying large-scale hospitality bathroom installations. ■

BOSA

A NEW COLLECTION FROM ANN SACKS, INSPIRED BY A TRADITIONAL DOMINICAN DANCE. P ambiche is a version of merengue, the national dance of the Dominican Republic, and is also known as the “Palm Beach one-step” because it was popular with United States military personnel. This new collection from Ann Sacks is evocative of the faded beauty of the island’s tiled courtyards and buildings. The standard and decorative hexagons feature a matte finish, a dusting of gloss and a hint of weathering on the surface edge. These features give the tile a depth, beauty and special patina that will create a sense of warmth and peace in any space. T E X T DEBORAH L. MARTIN

KIPS BAY’S INAUGURAL SHOWHOUSE

IN TEXAS IS BIG ON STYLE.

F or almost half a century, the annual Kips Bay Deco- rator Show House has been at the heart of the interior design industry—as both a source of inspiration and a source of goodwill. Over the years, the showhouse has brought together the brightest, most talented interior designers in the industry, as well as raising millions of dollars for the Kips Bay Boys & Girls Club. Having originated in New York City in 1973, the showhouse took to the road with its second edition in Palm Beach in 2017, and then headed to Dallas in the fall of 2020. The Dallas house benefitted Dwell with Dignity, a nonprofit agen- cy whose mission is to create in- spiring homes for families struggling with homelessness and poverty.
